My philosophy:

I believe in treating runners as well rounded, durable athletes. My approach is holistic and I work with you to identify the root cause of injury, versus treating symptoms. Sometimes we can do this in a single session, but often it is a process of me learning about you and how you respond to treatment over time. As a lifelong competitive runner, I understand the importance of how running fits into your life and I guide you towards sustainable running and putting longevity at the forefront of what we do.

Working with me is a personalized experience. I meet runners where they are in their training, goals, and life to come up with a proactive plan to manage injury and return to running/racing pain free. My goal is to help you become the most resilient version of yourself through this process.

FAQs

Where are you located?

45 Grand Ave, Oakland, CA 94612 (I am inside the Renegade Running storefront, just upstairs!)

Are you contracted with insurance companies?

I am an out of network provider. Please see below for information on insurance reimbursement for out of network providers.

Why aren’t you contracted with insurance companies?

A cash based practice allows physical therapists the freedom to provide patients with top quality care they need and deserve, without waiting weeks and months to see a provider. Insurance companies reimburse physical therapy less each year, which consequently means conventional PT clinics need to see more patients per day to offset the costs. You cannot provide the highest quality of care with shorter appointment times and with a high number of patients. In my experiences of working in a cash based PT practice, I am confident I can get you better in fewer visits.

Do I need a physicians referral?

No; California is a direct access state. You can be seen for physical therapy without a physicians referral. If you need care beyond 12 visits or 45 days (whichever comes first), then you need to be seen by a physician.

Can insurance reimburse me for this out of network visit?

Contact your insurance to check if you have out of network benefits! Insurance companies are transparent about this information and should take little time to figure out. Insurance companies that do not reimburse are medicare and medicaid.

What do I need to submit for insurance reimbursement?

I will provide you an itemized receipt with all necessary billing codes to submit after the visit. This cannot be provided in advance.

Do you accept HSA and FSA?

Yes! You can either pay with the card given to you (just like any other card payment) or I can provide you a super bill to submit for reimbursement.

Do you have a waitlist?

Yes! If you would like to come in at an earlier time, please fill out my waitlist form online.

Do you treat non running related injuries?

Yes! I am an orthopedic physical therapist and have experience treating neck and upper extremity injuries.

How often should I come to physical therapy?

Depends on the injury. Post-surgical patients usually need to come on a weekly basis early on (or as prescribed by doctor). If you are currently unable to run, at least every 2 weeks until we get you pain free. If you are not sure how often to book, please send me an email. My schedule fills quickly and I can be booked out for ~4 weeks so it helps to schedule in advance. If scheduling in advance, you can pay for your appointments in person.
